The Nebraska Soybean Board and the Nebraska Pork Producers Association worked with Brokaw Marketing to create the Nebraska AG Sack Lunch Program. The program was designed to educate Nebraska fourth-graders and their families on how important agriculture is to the state–historically, currently, and into the future. The program includes a sack lunch featuring nutritious food produced in Nebraska, a presentation on the vital role agriculture plays in the state’s economy, and a fact-filled card game designed for students to take home and play with their families. Students are encouraged to play “Crazy Soybean” with the deck of cards.
In its first year, the program provided over 4000 sack lunches to 4th grade students. In 2012 they provided lunches for 5000 students. The Nebraska Corn Board has joined the Nebraska Soybean Board and the Nebraska Pork Producers in sponsoring the program. The third year of the program for 2012-2013 school year will once again provide 5000 lunches to students.
